I found this on my town's historical website. Oddly enough, 1 of the 4 cut and paste prophecies shown here has actually been realized...When this was probably drafted (as a joke, right?) and published in the town newspaper the area probably had a lot more optimism because now any local official would shit on all of these ideas.
Hot air ballons - Amusing pre-hindenburg and the most likely of the 3.
The over-sized golf cart - Tours of the town would start and end at the common. Maybe if the subway from New York to Grafton was built there would be a need for these vehicles.
Subways to New York - It sounds like they were planning on building a subway to new york...I just want to live to see the 2nd ave line open.
You can still go to the top of the tower in the hotel building on the right. I think it's one of those hush hush things but they don't lock that door to the top. It's actually quite pretty because no one thinks to go there or the common for that matter. Just embracin my local history.
